Short stay

Somewhere to recover, with the care still on hand

Things happen. After an illness, an accident or an operation, an extra level of care is often needed for weeks rather than years. This is that arrangement, in a resort rather than a ward.

Recuperation

Recover somewhere you would actually want to be

Where better to relax and recover than in a beautiful, quiet resort with nursing on site? You get your own villa with a terrace, meals cooked in our kitchens with no fixed mealtimes, and the same 24-hour nursing and care as every other resident.

Care is not rationed here. Blood pressure is checked daily, with blood sugar and other checks as needed, and medication is managed for you including injection regimes if required.

After treatment in Thailand

Treated in Chiang Mai or Bangkok? Recover here

Thailand has become a popular destination for medical treatment because of its high standard and its cost. What the hospitals do not provide is somewhere restful to recover afterwards.

If your treatment was in Chiang Mai or Bangkok, you can recuperate with us. We will:

  • Help you keep in touch with your doctor
  • Arrange transport back for any follow-up appointments
  • Provide the level of care you need while you are here

Thailand does not run a general practitioner system, so care goes directly to specialists. Chiang Mai has a number of world-class hospitals, most within a thirty minute drive of the resort, and hospital visits are normally accompanied by our staff.

Not on your own

Bring someone with you

Many people prefer to be accompanied on a short stay by a partner, friend or relative. We encourage it. There are accommodation options for staying in the same villa, or in separate, private accommodation nearby on the resort.

For a visitor from abroad it works as a holiday as well as a visit. Chiang Mai has a great deal to offer, and the resort is thirty minutes from the city.

Included

The same resort, for a shorter time

A short stay uses everything the resort has:

  • Your own air-conditioned villa with terrace, bathroom, fridge, TV and telephone
  • Push and pull alarms in the villa, connected to the central nursing station
  • Meal periods rather than mealtimes, with Western, Thai, other Asian and vegetarian cooking, and dietary and religious requirements met
  • Two swimming pools, a sauna, a fitness room, the spa, the library
  • The seven-day activity programme, if you feel like joining it
  • Weekly shopping trips and monthly excursions
  • Step-free villas with 90cm (35in) doors, ramp access throughout, a pool lift and a hydraulic wheelchair lift on the minibus

Common questions

What people ask about short stays

How short is a short stay?

Shorter than six months. A long stay is defined as six months or more, and anything below that is arranged individually around what you need.

What does it cost?

Fees are quoted individually, because they depend on the level of care assessed and the villa chosen. Tell us what happened and what care you need and we will give you a real figure.

Can my husband, wife or friend stay with me?

Yes, and we encourage it. Either in the same villa or in separate private accommodation.

Will you take me to my follow-up appointments?

Yes. We arrange transport for follow-ups and will help you stay in contact with your doctor. Hospital visits are normally accompanied by our staff.

Is it suitable after surgery?

That depends entirely on the surgery and your care needs, which we assess individually before agreeing a stay. This page is not medical advice and does not replace your surgeon's.

Do you offer respite care?

Yes. Respite stays and holiday stays are both offered, whether you are a family carer needing a break or arranging a trial stay for someone considering moving in permanently. A trial stay is often the most useful thing a family can do before committing.
